Telehealth:Telephone and Video consultations

Short 1telephone consultations can be booked online. Video consultations must be booked through reception. There are additional phone and video consults available at times that are not currently visible on the online booking system and are available by calling reception.

You are able to change your online booking to a telehealth consult by calling the practice.

Video consultations

Most of our doctors can offer video consultations through the HealthDirect platform. Please book by calling reception and advise if you prefer invitation by email or sms.

Video consults attract the same fees as face to face consults.

They may be preferable for some presentations, including Covid infections and mental health.

It is important that you have the latest internet browser on your phone, mobile device or computer to enable the consultation.

When you receive the link, you will be required to put in your name and capture a photo for identification purposes.

You will then enter a virtual waiting room. The doctor will admit you when they are ready for the consultation. You should be warned if the doctor is running > 15 minutes late.

Sometimes the connection can require refreshing if it is dropping out.

Appointments

Standard appointments are up to 15 minutes. Please consider making a longer appointment at the time of booking for multiple or complex problems. Note that longer appointments may not be available at certain times of the day.

Please book procedures, chronic disease management plans, mental health care plans, driving licence medicals, iron infusions and nursing appointments through reception in order to allocate the correct amount of time with the doctor +/- nurse.

Our doctors have “book on the day” appointments that become available first thing in the morning. Telephone consultations should be available on the day for anyone who is Covid positive and wishing to speak with a doctor.

We offer telephone consultations to our existing patients. Please ask reception when booking.

You will receive an sms reminder about your appointment if you have a valid mobile phone number on record.

Prescriptions and Referrals

We prefer patients make appointments for script renewals or specialist referrals.

If you are an existing patient of the practice, this can be done in a phone consultation with one of our doctors as we understand that it is not always possible for you to come in.

Some scripts may be provided without a consultation if you have been seen in the practice within the last 6 months. Please call the surgery or send a request through our online booking service. Prescriptions or referrals written without a consultation will be subject to a fee of $22 that is not rebatable by Medicare.

Our practice preference is to provide e scripts (click on link below for more information about e prescribing).

Please note that referrals to specialists cannot be backdated.

Telephone calls and Electronic Communication

Telephone calls to doctors should be kept to a minimum as we encourage you to make an appointment for clinical advice. Please speak to our friendly reception staff for assistance.

All electronic communication is replied to.

Results

If you would like to discuss your results with the doctor, please make a follow up appointment.

As our doctors review many results daily, all normal results will not be followed up.

If there is an urgent abnormal result, you will be contacted by phone

All non-urgent abnormal or unexpected results will be followed up. The first recall may be an sms message, followed up by a phone call from reception staff.

Please make sure your contact details are kept up to date.
